Slaw Precast

As the precast specialty engineer, Eriksson designed the lifting, handling, hauling and storage schemes and produced the shop drawings for all precast products on the project. The scope of this rehabilitation project essentially consisted of removing the top of an elaborate, architecturally-significant 1932 arch bridge and replacing it with a new state-of-the-art precast concrete superstructure. Multiple levels of precast and detailed architectural features compounded the many challenges of the project. During handling design, the very slender longitudinal beams required conversion from mildly reinforced to precast, pretensioned concrete members along with the addition of steel wide flange strongbacks to ensure safe handling. For our work on this project, we were honored with a PCI Design Award in 2013. For additional information, visit PCI.
